The global shortage of semiconductor chips continues to affect detector supply.
Fortunately, our detector manufacturer (System Sensor) has commenced production of a new range of detectors using components which are less prone to supply-chain disruptions.
The latest release from System Sensor is the 2351PTIRAUS intelligent addressable multi-criteria detector. This new detector uses a new processor chip, and features an improved smoke chamber design. In addition, the 2351PTIRAUS has an infra-red sensor for improved unwanted alarm performance.
With three configurable smoke sensitivity levels, and an independent thermal alarm, the 2351PTIRAUS is the recommended replacement for the 2251TMBPI “Acclimate” photoelectric and thermal detector. Supply of the older 2251TMBPI is severely constrained by chip shortages, and we recommend the 2351PTIRAUS for new installations.
Additionally, System Sensor have advised us that they are now moving to white as the default colour for all detectors. This move has been under way for some time, but is now being fully implemented with the introduction of the new model range. In most cases the ivory colour option will still be available to provide colour matching for existing installations.
The 2351PTIRAUS detectors are fully approved to AS7240.5 and AS72540.7 and are listed with SAI Global. At this stage these detectors are only available in white.
We hope to have this detector in stock by late October.
